Shannon Watterson, MS, LPC-Associate (Under the supervision of Dr. Richard Bishop, LMFT-S, LPC-S)
I am a Licensed Professional Counseling-Associate under the supervision of Dr. Richard Bishop, LMFT-S, LPC-S. I have worked with children, adolescents, individuals, and couples using a “here and now” present moment focused approach.
My belief and the way I conduct therapy revolves around this simple truth. The past has already happened, and I cannot change it. I can reflect on it and see things which are affecting my present allowing for change through awareness. The future has not happened yet, and I have limited control of what is to come. What I can control is the choices I make that can lead to the desired outcome. By focusing on the “here and now” we create awareness taking control of our own life. I enjoy working together with clients as a team to achieve the goals they have for themselves. I provide a judgement free space where clients can explore all aspects of themselves in order to gain awareness and become their most authentic self. I am not the expert on your life which means we work as partners to achieve the desired goal.
I have experience working with individuals, couples, adolescents, children, and LGBTQ+ on many different issues through two different universities. I have worked with clients on relationship problems, anxiety, depression, sexuality, self-esteem, boundaries, mindfulness practices, life transitioning issues, and self-acceptance.
I became a therapist out of a desire and passion for helping others. I love watching my clients as they find the power within them to achieve their goals, overcome obstacles and live a happy health life. I want to work with you and help you discover strengths to your success! Let’s take this journey together!
