Eureka Williams, MS, LCSW
My background includes 6 years post graduate experience in mental health. I started with crisis intervention at a behavioral health hospital. After some time, I obtained a full-time position at another facility and worked as an Intake Coordinator and Clinical Manager of Behavioral Health inpatient and outpatient services. The programs served adolescent (ages 12-17) and adult (ages 18+) patients who were suffering from a substance abuse or mental health crisis. I gained experience with group therapy, family therapy, discharge planning (to ensure seamless transition to the next provider), multidisciplinary collaboration (with physicians, therapists, RN’s), and community engagement through volunteer work providing brief psycho-education.
The primary therapy model that I will use as your therapist is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). CBT is a short term, problem solving method utilized to address emotional challenges. It’s proven to be effective for persons exhibiting symptoms of a mood related disorder. Through CBT you will learn how your feelings effect your behaviors and learn techniques to address unhelpful emotions. Other therapeutic approaches (i.e. Family Systems, Strengths Based, Mindfulness Based, etc.) will be used as appropriate to suit your individual counseling needs.
I know that starting therapy can sometimes feel overwhelming, and I commend you for taking this brave step. As your counselor, it is my desire to provide you with a safe and therapeutic environment to meet your counseling goals so that you can continue forward in the path to emotional healing.
